DHS Spies on Your Air Travel

Yahoo, of all places, bothered to report this. So much for a free and "watchdog" media to restrain government abuses of our civil liberties. Interesting article detailing the ways in which the Department of Homeland Security spies on all our air travel, records all our overseas travels, monitors the ticket payments and ip addresses for ticket booking, and more.

Upside Down Flag a Sign of Distress

Section 176a of the United States Flag Code specifically reads "The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property."

Are we at a time of dire distress jeopardizing our life or property?
-We live in a time when our freedom of speech is being threatened and censored in the name of eliminating "hate speech";
-Our freedom of public assembly and peaceable protest to petition for redress of grievances is being abridged and confined to "free speech zones" enforced by heavily armed police employing excessive force;
-Our freedom of religion and expression is abridged or banned through hate speech and tax laws intended to create a public sector devoid of the free exchange of religious & philosophical ideas;
-Our government has now passed TWO "bailouts" which amount to nearly a trillion dollars of new taxes against our consent;
-The National Security Agency records and monitors every mobile phone conversation in America, and monitors all internet activity from an American connection;
-The Patriot Act allows our government to spy on our land line phones without a warrant, to spy upon our library accounts, and to detain indefinitely American citizens without access to counsel or a trial by a jury of peers;
-Units of the active Army & Air Force are being deployed stateside for the explicit purposes of "domestic security operations and training";
-President-elect Obama's campaign admitted to accepting donations from non-citizens and thus allowed foreigners to influence the outcome of our highest election in violation of federal elections & treason laws;
-Anyone who publicly challenges or denigrates the new administration seems to get arrested for "hate crimes" despite the 1st Amendment;
-Our independent media is being threatened by open partisan biases and corporate propaganda, and by the proposed Fair Media Act of the new administration;
-American citizens have been arrested and transported abroad to Guantanamo Bay for interrogation and detainment;
-The Security and Prosperity Partnership has expanded NAFTA, circumvented Congress and the American voters, and has begun stripping American citizens of their lands through foreign-influenced eminent domain claims.

First in the name of "freedom from fear," then "waging a global war on terror," and now ushering in "change and hope" the American citizen has been steadily stripped of his Constitutional liberties and rights. There has been no time of more dire distress for our Republic in over a century, and the prevailing silence of the mainstream media and the support of leadership in both parties has advanced this crisis to a point where liberty has been nearly lost in America. Display the flag upside, then, as Patrick O'Toole does, and begin voicing your dissent.

Loyalty and Oath

“I, (X), do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the State of Montana against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the Governor of Montana and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to law and regulations. So help me God." ~Oath of Enlistment, Montana Army National Guard.

It seems appropriate to me as I launch this blog to reflect upon what patriotism and loyalty mean. In contemporary America, we are told that patriotism and loyalty can be defined by the media, by politics, by parties and by the Federal government. Yet there was once a time when patriotism meant something infinitely deeper than politicians, parties and propaganda- there was a time when patriotism was loyalty to the principles which defined the American Republic.

This is reflected in the oath of enlistment I quote above, an oath which is a matter of sacred honor to those of us who have sworn it and wear the uniform in service to Montana. Notice quite clearly that nowhere in that oath is loyalty to the president or the government sworn. Rather, the loyalty of the serviceman is sworn to a pair of documents, the Constitutions of Montana and the United States.

These documents set down in writing the principles which define the governments of the sovereign State of Montana and the Republic of the United States which Montana chose to join in 1889. These documents, and thus the principles which they entail, are the objects of our loyalty and thus our true patriotism is expressed not by loyalty to any government, politician or party but rather by loyalty to these Constitutions and the principles (not the men) which crafted and defined them.

Let that, then, define likewise this blog and the community of patriots it may hopefully reach in the darkening days that come. News, good and bad, shall be posted here in a continuous bid to educate, inspire and illuminate men whose loyalties lie not with a politician or a party, but with the principles laid down so long ago in a declaration no longer heard. In time, let the Sons of Liberty rise again as our forefathers rose 24 decades ago, defiant in the face of any tyrant, stalwart in support of the principles of liberty, and resolute in defense of that liberty to which they have been entitled by Divine nature. Reread then the oath, quoted above, and search your own soul; when any man, foreign or domestic, makes himself the enemy of those Constitutions, where stand you? Where stand we all?
